    Astronomy

    The Big Island is home to a number of world-class astronomical observatories at the summit of Mauna Kea. There are many opportunities for the visitor... from free stargazing at the Visitors Center evey night of the year (weather permitting), tours of various Observatory base and summit facilities, and the exceptional 'Imiloa Astronomy Center in Hilo.

    Fun With Lava

    The Big Island has hot and cold running lava. Where else can you hike a couple of miles and enjoy watching lava flow right in front of you, creating new land. Our Volcano pages give you everything you need to prepar for hiking to the lava flow and finding fantastic surface flows and ocean entries.
