The Noio, or Black Noddy, is a shoreline bird and nests in lava tubes and ledges along the cliff side of the ocean.
The Noio is a type of Tern. The upper part of the head is white and the beak and below the head is black. The rest of the body varies from bird to bird from grays to blacks and some browns. The legs and feet of the Black Noddy are bright orange.
One of the best places to see the Noio is at the shoreline along Chain of Craters Road in the Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park.
